Close-up, match stick quilting in orange and natural color thread. |
My design, Log cabin style blocks, 18" x 59", Santa Clara #6. |
I sewed up some saw tooth blocks to add to the border. |
I think this arrangement will work. |
Happy Friday from the Pacific NW where the forecast is sunny this weekend!
and we are staying with relatives, sightseeing and helping out.
I finished machine quilting 'Santa Clara #6'. It was started last fall while we were staying in New Hampshire with my daughter and her family. Kona cotton 'snow' will bind it.
The length, 18" X 59", is great for a wall or a long table. The white contrasting the colors reminds me of the clear light in Santa Clara, CA.

My improv project is a string challenge small quilt I started about a month ago. I put it aside for a while to work on other things. I've added a light border and pieced blocks together that will make another border. Today I pieced the sawtooth blocks. Next will be sewing the outer border together and trimming.
That's the news up north in the land of tall trees and mountains.
Remembering to be thankful.
I'll be by to visit.
After I read your last post I went to a pumpkin patch with my grandson, too. Great days for both of us.
ReplyDeleteI like the way you're using white in these quilts as well as how you're mixing prints and solids. It's especially impressive because you're doing it all while you travel. Wow. It's good to see a string quilt. Interesting the way you sewed two strip sets into one block. Thanks for joining in on AHIQ.
Love the look of matchstick quilting, it is something I've never tried. Very envious of you having sunny weather, we have had lots of wind and rain this month. Roll on Summer. Thanks for linking to Sew, Stitch, Snap, Share.
ReplyDeleteAs always, I love your bright colors and interesting patterns.
ReplyDeleteMatchstick quilting is the perfect choice for your log cabin quilt!
ReplyDeleteWow, I Love the colours in Santa Clara! It's really gorgeous, and your layout has wonderful movement, too!
ReplyDeleteI really like the way the dark strips edge the piano key sections. Adds such an interesting pow!
ReplyDeleteThank you Patty, contrast adds eye appeal.
DeleteI just learned something! I had heard of matchstick quilting and didn't know what it was. As always I love your use of colour!
ReplyDeleteI am in love with the peppers and flowers I can see out of the corner of my eye below this post lol.... Thank you so so much for the amazing comment yesterday and I can't tell you how happy I am that you are enjoying the class!! xxx
ReplyDeleteOh these are both beautiful art pieces! Matchstick quilting is a favourite of mine, although it is time consuming.
ReplyDeleteI love how those simple log cabins have turned into something complex and beautiful, and how in both of these the whites/neutrals help to make your lovely colours glow.
ReplyDeleteThanks Kaja.
DeleteYour hand quilting is a thing of beauty!
