Mariposa Meadow Charms, March Butterfly 2017

March 2017 butterfly, Red-spotted Purple.

Coin quilt in progress, fabric from Mariposa Meadow is included.

This is progress on my small 'Liberated' butterfly quilt in red/white.

Happy Weekend!!
March already!! St. Patrick's Day is almost here.

I'm linking up with Ann @ Fret Not Yourself
for Kaleidoscope of Butterflies, celebrating butterflies.

I've posted photos of two quilts I'm working on that have butterflies on them. The 'Liberated' red butterflies are pieced to resemble butterflies in the liberated style. I've added a saw tooth border and will probably finish it with red binding.

My coin quilt is being pieced with fabric that has butterflies printed on it, the Mariposa Meadow line by Elizabeth Isle; which can be found here at Missouri Star Quilt Company.

The butterfly for March, the Red-spotted Purple is brush-footed and lives mostly on the east coast and south into Mexico.
Here around Rancho Palos Verdes the last couple of days have been warm and I've seen Monarchs flying around the flowering shrubs.

Hope you take time to enjoy butterflies today.
I'll be by to visit!

I love your liberated butterfly - the sawtooth border frames things beautifully. Good progress on your coins too.

Interesting that the blocks are rectangular. It gives those butterflies a bit more space. How nice to see another look at your coins. Thanks for linking with Kaleidoscope of Butterflies.

Love your TWO! butterfly quilts in progress! Who doesn't love butterfly quilts!!! My son, at age 10, told me I should go to www.imaquilterandilovebutterflies.com--he said certainly there is something there for me!!!

The red spotted purple also has a lovely blue shade.
By adding the saw tooth border on your white and red butterfly quilt you have added more variation and the eye will have more to look at. Great!
Your coin quilt is by contrast very colorful.

Thank you, Ann.
Butterflies and quilts are habit forming.
Your coin quilt is a beauty.

Thank you, Nancy.

Yes, that blue shade is beautiful.
Your Norwich stitch stacked in a square is impressive.

We have a butterfly calendar this year (your influence I'm sure!), but it's obviously not the same one. Each one is beautiful and it's a joy to turn the page over to a new month.
