Liberated Small, 3 1/2" Strip Blocks, Snow, Creative Fire

Time to get the snow blower out.

The little prince, unhappy.

The little prince, happy.

Cutting blocks to size, 3 1/2" sq.

Rows sewn together, 9" x 12".

Happy Friday from New Hampshire!!
There's been snow and there's going to be more snow. I'd better get used to it, right?

We're here helping my daughter's family with the arrival of their third child. He's now 2 months old and full of cuteness, time flies.

I had a bit of time to experiment with some liberated blocks I'd made up. I cut them down to 3 1/2" sq. using state of the art technology, a cardboard template. It worked well, actually.
I followed Gwen Marston's advice and didn't over think block arrangement. I bought her online course from iquilt, 'Abstract Quilts in Solids.' I love the way she talks about 'play time at the sewing machine,' in the course. That's the way to get into the flow; to relax and enjoy the process.

Hopefully you're able to stay warm where ever you are and keep the creative 'fire' burning.
How do you keep your creative 'fire' burning?

I'll be by to see what projects you're working on!

awww - your wee Prince is adorable (happy or unhappy). Our little one is three months now and so full of cuteness. How I wish we could see him for real at Christmas. I really like your latest quilt - it's quite reminiscent of crazy quilts.

What a cutie!! I'm speaking, of course, about your grandson but your small abstract blocks are also cute. I have the same course from iquilt, love it.

59 degrees here this week, so we are unlikely see snow this year; I'll enjoy looking at yours from a distance though. How lovely to have all this time getting to know your grandson properly - and still find time to quilt! I keep eyeing that course.

Thanks Mary Ann.
You're right about it being a little like a crazy quilt.

State of art technology! A cardboard template, ha, ha! As long as you don't slip and cut the board and your fingers it is OK, but do take care. The advantage of a proper ruler is that the rotary cutter does not slip easily. Great blocks, though!
Snow is lovely to look at and gives a nice feeling at Christmas, but oh boy how hard it is to have to remove all the time.
I am sure you don't want to go home and leave those lovely princes and princesses behind!

Thank you, Maureen.
Gwen's course is full of inspiration!

Thanks Queenie, snow is beautiful but cold.

Hi Kaja, snow from a distance is the best.
Gwen's course is full of good ideas, I find some new way of looking at the quilt process
every time I go through it.

I do not miss the cold that goes with snow. We all seem to be in for a cold wi tee though. Congratulations on your thriving grandson. So wonderful to share loads of time with him.
It's intriguing to see your quilt progress. I'm planning to work on that course after New Years.
