New Art Quilt Published 2014...

Mai Tai, my design, hand embroidered and beaded by me.

This was published in Art Quilting Studio, summer 2014.
My batik stash was calling to me, I made some strip fabric and cut blocks from it and arranged them with sashing, then added a couple of borders and the embellishment. The citrus colors and brown reminded me of the Tiki culture, Mai Tai drink with citrus and rum flavors. Just the thing for August.

 Variegated embroidery thread.

Crazy quilt "Prairie" #2 sewing kit finished.

I finished "Prairie" #2 in a series of three sewing kits. I cut them all from the same crazy quilt I made up for that purpose. This will soon be in my etsy shop, Crazyvictoriana . I'm excited to start the 3rd sewing kit, it has a slightly different lay of lace embellishment,  a bit of a challenge to get it all under control in one cohesive statement.
I always get a lot of inspiration from, Pintangle's WIP . Check it out to see other projects being worked on by other artists.

Close-up of my embellished heart ornament.
Black corduroy back, pink silk ribbon for hanging, tag "Pour Vous", hand sewn.

Venice lace, netting, vintage glass and antique reproduction buttons.

Another hand embellished heart ornament by me. The blue turquoise velvet ribbon is beautiful. The daisy trim has french knots in gold metallic thread on it. Delightful addition to any decor.

crazy quilt sewing bag, embellishing..

Pink pom-poms, what else??
I made this sewing bag from a crazy quilt I made just for this purpose.
I was able to get 3 sewing bags from it and about three pin cushions.
The pink pom-poms are so delicious. I will add some hand embroidery
next. Is there life without embellishment? I don't think so. I have seen
people who try to pretend there is no embellishment, as if it were a bad
word or something. I watch them and I secretly add to and embellish
every thing they are wearing and saying. Try it sometime.

Barn Raising Red quilt

Barn Raising Red, approx. 21"x21"

This small quilt is made of log cabin blocks in the pattern barn raising. The prints are small with a lot of calicoes. I designed and pieced it and hand quilted it. It is laying on another quilt, the red and black check binding defines its dimensions. I really like the log cabin block because of the many fascinating patterns possible. Using complimentary colors makes it striking.

Back view, I wanted to use a few of the beautiful calicoes.
