Embellishing Half Doll Pincushion.....

I have added silk yo-yo's & tatted lace...

I've also added some lovely roses from Tresors de Luxe...
This is my half-doll pin cushion, I haven't named her yet. I have fun embellishing her one way and then changing things around another day. She is very fickle, as I am.
The roses are from, Tresors de luxe . The French ribbon rose is from, Meadow Street .
I made the silk yo-yo's, the tatted lace is from my stash. Where did I get that anyway? I need more. The vintage jewelry piece is from my grandmothers collection, I only got a few pieces of that.
Happy Friday, remember to find something beautiful!

Closer view, the silk rose is from MeadowStreet.com.

Happy with progress on Crazy Quilt sewing kit....

"Prairie" #2 sewing kit, back opened out...

Braid added, feather stitch too.

I added braid and hand embroidery to the pocket.
I've made some progress I'm happy with. I was fixating on embellishment choices last week. Then it dawned on me that I was getting burned out! So back to having fun with inspiration and looking at other projects and just generally relaxing a little. It's amazing how easy it is to forget that. A good place for inspiration is Sharon B's WIP Wednesday . Tresors de Luxe blog is very inspiring and there are always great examples of beautiful compositions and lovely embellishments. I consider mixed media another form of crazy quilting.

Closer view of embellishments and felted wool needle keep.

I like this view with the prairie points and embellishments together.

French Country style quilt...

Blues, reds, creams, tans and brown in a  medallion quilt

Corner view, I designed and hand quilted this.
I enjoy the French Country style. I designed this quilt with that style in mind, that peaceful, classic, unaffected look that is so comforting and enduring. I get inspiration for that look here, French General, and here, Just Lilla .
This is for sale in my Etsy shop, crazyvictoriana .

View of the back, "Simple Life."

Full view, I like the borders.

Purple Pansy out of Place??????

More beads added...

embellishments added,
 I have more embellishments and
buttons to add. I found the crocheted pansy at Vintage Vogue
This is the part where I get every thing balanced out, color, texture and composition. The big three must dance together well. I go to my inspiration sources for fresh insight, part of the adventure.

You know something? I'm not real
happy with that purple pansy there. It's just not right. What do you think?

Hand embroidery, french knots and feather stitch.....

Back opened out, you can see the crushed velvet ties.

Talking about lace as an embellishment....

I have found  a really great place for fabulous lace and embellishments. The prices are good too;
Tresors de Luxe Lace  , this is where I'm taking my business.
Their blog has lots of inspiration ,Tresors de Luxe blog . Lace and crazy quilts go together like milk and cookies.
Where do you find your lace?

Crazy Quilt "Prairie" sewing kit progress...

I added beads onto Venice lace...

Hand embroidery added here..
I had a little time to add embellishment over the busy
4th of July weekend. Lots of family things going on. Some wild fires NW of us. We could see and smell smoke. They are mostly under control today.
Happy Monday!

Best Quilting tool ever!!!!

These came in the mail yesterday....
Sew Red glasses are the best tool for helping you see contrast. Contrast is what makes your quilts interesting. Have you ever seen a quilt that had lovely fabrics and an interesting pattern but it was all muddled together so nothing stood out? The fabric and pattern was lost in a sea of sameness.
Now that I have these Sew Red glasses I won't have to squint to see contrast, squinting doesn't always work so well anyway. You can find them here .
I'm still working on my crazy quilt sewing kit and I've added trims, Sharon B's mini challenge but today I am experimenting with my Sew Red glasses.
