Hand Quilting Finish, Simple Machine Quilting Finish

I finished hand quilting my liberated log cabin quilt in batiks.

It looks good on this table.

My small red and white quilt got machine quilted.

I'm still arranging and making decisions on my coin quilt.

Hello! From Rancho Palos Verdes, CA.
Sunny and windy here. We often see whales and dolphins on our walks along the coast.
It's that time of the year.

I finally finished hand quilting my 3 block x 4 block liberated log cabin quilt. The front is pieced in batiks and it's backed in batiks with Warm and Natural batting. That makes for some tough hand quilting. That's why I took so long. I'll bind it with a turquoise batik.

I also had time to machine quilt my small red and white liberated butterfly quilt with saw tooth border. It will have red binding. It was an experiment I wanted to do using only two colors.

My coin quilt is still being arranged and rearranged. I find if I think too much about color placement things get muddled. So I remember to use contrast then everything mostly falls into place.

If you want to get lost in an adventure go here.

I'll be by to visit and share in your projects and progress.
Enjoy the Process! Share a smile.

  2. Congratulations on your finishes. The hand quilting must have been tough, but the result is beautiful.
I think it is best not to plan too much, go with the 'gut feeling' when placing colours.
Enjoy the scenery along the coast.

  5. Seeing whales and dolphins must be so exciting. I think I'd be watching for them all the time and wouldn't be getting anything else done.

  6. we went on a whale watching trip during our visit to San Diego about 18 months ago. We saw dolphins and walrus??? (maybe walrus??) and we also saw a whale just as he was going under....I saw his tail and I will never forget it.
More beautiful colours here Janie which are just what I need on this dreary Lancashire day.

  7. That trip sounds like quite an adventure. So far I haven't been out on a boat to whale watch.
I'm glad the colors brightened your day Karen.
