Improv Quilt Designs, my 'Coins' for AHIQ with Orange Triangles!

Wasabi #1, 19" x 16", my design, is all finished, just sayin'.

My version 'coins', I've added 'liberated'  borders all around.
We took a road trip to Irvine, CA , view of Saddleback Mountain.

Hello, from windy Rancho Palos Verdes.

Busy week for me, a road trip to Irvine, CA. It's a very beautiful city, not compacted at all, in some areas you can see the land start to stretch out into open spaces. A nice change from LA.

I had some time for sewing and planning. My Wasabi #1 is all done. You can see 'improv' blocks and 'coins' in it.
My 'coins' I started for AHIQ now has a turquoise border with orange 'liberated' triangles in it.
I do love orange and turquoise, any little excuse and I'll throw those two colors in!
The lighting was not so good here today so a better photo is coming soon. Who knows, by then maybe it will have more borders added.
I'm linking up with Ann and Kaja at Sew Slowly
for AHIQ, where fun design happens. Stop on over to get inspired!

I've also decided to try something new and I'm doing a block of the week, by Piecing the Past Quilts designed by Debbie MacInnis, Rest and Refreshing- A Civil War Sampler Quilt.
Yes, I know, very different for me, but I want the challenge of traditional piecing.
I certainly cannot promise to stick to historical reproduction fabrics exclusively, but I think it'll turn out fine just the same.

I'm linking up with Linda and Julie with Sew Stitch Snap sharing projects and progress, hop on over for inspiration!

Hope you're having a productive week, dreaming or piecing or stitching.
I'll be by to visit!

They are both lovely, Janie. What a darling border. I've been thinking about triangles myself but they just look like sharpened pencil ends on the coins. Your yellow really snaps. Thanks for linking these with AHIQ and joining the Chinese Coin invitation.

Great quilts! It will be interesting to see your civil war sampler quilt. It ought to be vey different from Wasabi and Coins.
Glad you enjoyed your trip.

So much lovely stuff again. Wasabi looks great bound and finished; I like your border on the coins a lot- the orange triangles and the way some of the slightly darker fabrics have sneaked into the it alongside the paler blue; and of course I always, always love your oranges and turquoises.
