Butterfly for October, New Workroom, Quilt Binding decision...

Butterfly for October 2016

Pfaff sewing machine I'm using now.

My 'liberated' four patch log cabin surround quilt, yes, I share my work space.

There's enough backing to fold around for the binding.

My October butterfly calendar features a Heliconius butterfly. They are a brush footed, New World butterfly, eating passion fruit vines as larvae. Who would have thought?

The weather here in New Hampshire has been cloudy and cool with rain off and on. Not great lighting for photos but one must carry on. It's also a good excuse to shop for cold weather clothes which I've been doing; new sweaters, boots etc..

In my new workroom I'm using a Pfaff Ambition sewing machine which does everything I want it to. My husband shares the work table with me so he's got his guitar finishing tools and his Apple Computer on one side and I do my sewing on the other side. I've ordered a small Omnigrid foldaway
from Nancy's Notions, so I can trim and press as I'm piecing without having to run out to the big ironing board in the laundry room.

That's what up in New Hampshire!
Thanks for sharing your progress and work, I enjoy keeping up with what you're doing.

Hope your weekend went well!

Always good to see the latest butterfly in your calendar. We finally had some cooling off here; I'm looking forward to fall's arrival. Enjoy sharing your workspace with your husband. Thanks for linking with Kaleidoscope of Butterflies.

I admire you for sharing your quilting space - I need the peace and quiet of my own space to concentrate!

I like the blue of your backing coming round to be the binding. I share my workspace with anyone who cares to pass by and make a mess(or that's what it feels like), but working alongside your husband sounds kind of companionable.

Well thank you, I'm sharing out of necessity. I'm out of town helping with family for a while.
So I'm challenging myself to 'make do' as many of our grandmothers did and many women still do.
I find narrowing choices opens a different kind of creativity.

Beautiful colours in your liberated four patch there! They really glow, despite the clouds!
